Privacy notice

Draft — to be reviewed against Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) before launch.

What we collect

Your email address (to sign you in), your name and phone number (kept private), messages you send in U-Wash chat, and — if you are a provider — your public listing details and an approximate service location.

How we use it

To run your account, show providers to customers nearby, deliver messages between you and the people you chat with, and contact businesses who register interest. We don't sell your data.

Location

Customers' locations are used in your browser to search and are not stored. Home and community washers' public pins are rounded to about 1 km; businesses are shown at their address.

Who can see what

Provider listings are public. Phone numbers are never shown publicly. Messages are visible only to the two people in the conversation and to U-Wash staff when investigating a reported problem.

Third parties

We use Google Firebase to store data and send sign-in emails, Netlify to host the site, and OpenStreetMap for maps, area search and public laundry listings.

How long we keep things

Voice notes are deleted automatically 30 days after they're sent. Text messages and order records are kept while your account is active, because they're the record we use to resolve problems between customers and providers. When you delete your account, we delete your chats and personal details, except where we must keep an order record to resolve an open problem.

Your choices

You can edit or remove your listing at any time from your account. To delete your account and data, contact us (see the Contact page).
